Easter is one of my favorite holidays because it shows us that life never ends & love never dies. The story of our redeemer defeating death & the tomb being empty showing that Jesus can & will conquer all. I think the thing that gets me every time about Easter is something my middle school bible study leader taught me – even if you were the only person left on this planet, and had no idea if you would choose to walk through life with Him, Jesus would still die for you because you are worth everything and more to Him. Let that sink in. This perfect man who has walked the Earth without a drop of sin died a sinner’s death all for you – without even knowing if you would choose Him. That is just mind boggling to me. It puts into perspective his vast and unwavering love because there is nothing like it.
Richy & I started the morning by driving out to a spot on Lady Bird Lake where we could see the sunrise at 7:03 AM. This our new Easter tradition – seeing the sun rise the morning the Son rose. We took it in, sleepy eyes and all, and prayed. Thanking Jesus for what he did for us on that cross so we could spend eternity with Him. Thanking Jesus for all the seasons of life He has carried us through together and will continue to do. Prayed for our friends and family to spend the day rejoicing in His name. It was a beautiful moment and now one of my favorite traditions.
This Easter was different than usual and hard to adjust to at first, but if there is one thing the Lord has taught me it is that everything happens for a reason. These times are hard for everyone either medically, financially, or emotionally but this is when you can lean on Him the most. Pray for those suffering to heal and those who are broken to be repaired. Choose to thank Him during the storm because, even if the times are not good, He is always good.
